About Me

Hi. I’m JoAnna, but you can call me Jo.

I grew up in a small town in central Maine, but currently live in Boston, Massachusetts.

Ever since I was a child, I’ve found magic in words.
Poems. Stories. Lyrics. Folklore. Scripts.
Hell, I even love a good spelling bee.

For my eighth birthday, I asked for a leather-bound Thesaurus.

When I moved on to high school, my middle school english teacher asked for permission to use my 7th and 8th grade short stories to teach her class.

As a 21-year-old, I braved the stage as a sacrificial poet at the National Poetry Slam Championship.

Just a few years later, I stumbled into my dream job—copywriting—and never, ever looked back.

TL;DR: I’ve always been an incredibly sappy nerd.

When I’m not writing, you can find me…

  • Cuddled up to my beagle, Igby

  • Painting, drawing, or collaging

  • Doing the New York Times crossword puzzle

  • Watching trashy reality television

  • Thrifting or rummaging through an estate sale

  • Shoulders-deep in an internet rabbit hole on a subject that’s none of my business

  • Enjoying the company of my decades-long, close-knit circle of friends

  • Advocating for women and victims of domestic violence

  • Planning my next tattoo

  • Drooling over mid-century homes

  • Learning something new; (currently making my way through an Adobe Creative Suite course)
